Building a design library as Porsche's first Interaction Design intern

Overview

I worked 7 months as Porsche Car North America’s first Interaction Design intern. I was the only intern of my kind, and worked on a team of two United States UX Designers to implement dealer tools nationwide. I worked directly under the mentorship and guidance of Diane DeSeta, Director Of User Experience Strategy & Creative in the United States, while also collaborating with Interaction and UX Designers based at the Germany headquarters.

Building a design system library in Figma for future interns

Since I was the first intern, one of my tasks was to use Porsche's brand guidelines and customer service experience assets to create a component library in Figma for future interns to use. As a part of this effort I built an icon library, mock ups and components of a dealer facing digital experience, navigation components, and documentation for design system as it relates to UX designers (not just marketing). I placed all these assets in Figma, Google docs, and zipped files, and organized for future interns to use. I have offered mentorship support the next generation of interns throughout the last 4 years.

I am not able to provide photos of this library, but it has been exciting to see how this library has evolved over the last few years.

Porsche Marketing Email templates

I worked on a project to redesign the Porsche Email Template for marketing initiatives. I incorporated GIFS and bold images and texts. Some iterations that I created stretched the limits of what Porsche would normally visualize. I collaborated with the Porsche Marketing teams and a third party company Movable Ink to talk about interactive components inside of emails and how customers may interact with this content. I led a design review with the business stakeholders to receive feedback and iterate upon the design.

Audits & analysis

Logo audit

I conducted a Logo Audit of all the Porsche dealer websites in the United States. I went through 93 websites to check the quality of the logo images, advocating for an SVG file as the default logo for clarity. I additionally conducted audits of the customer experience UX tools to ensure that brand guidelines were being adhered to. I delivered the audit artifacts to Diane. Dealership compliance to brand design guidelines is a metric each dealership must report on every year. In such a large organization,

Information Architecture contributions

I collaborated with a UX Designer working at Porsche AG to make a My Porsche Site Map in Miro. We worked to create a full information architecture diagram that included each of the actionable items in the site and enabled functions within the page. This map is used by teams in both the United States and Germany to audit and manage design areas that need updating or restructuring.
